Inexpensive Ideas for Getting Your Home Ready to Sell or to Enjoy the 'Clean!'

StarStarStarStarStarOf course, the first thing you need to do is get rid of all clutter.  The next thing might be to rearrange furniture, even removing some and put it in storage.  Don't put it in the basement where it can just be seen there instead of where you had it.  Now, the buyers might think the house is small and you are just trying to fool them.  Make sure there is plenty of lighting... get rid of yellowed or dark lamp shades, make sure all light bulbs and fixtures sparkle!  Cover any dirty or worn spots on your upholstered furniture with fabric or cover, and even do so with your pillows for color.  Make sure your carpet is as clean as possible.  You are often better off doing it yourself, as you can use chemicals to remove stains.  A carpet cleaner cannot use any chemicals.  There are many such chemicals on the market, try Lowes or Home Depot.  Besides, it will cost you $200-$400 to get your carpet cleaned by so-called professionals, when you can buy the Oreck carpet cleaning machine for less or at least the same.  This machine works wonders and is easy to use.  Oxyclean also works great on stains... test carpet first.  I put it on the stain, and then use the Oreck machine to shampoo and then rinse with the Oreck and suck all the water up... will dry in 1/2 hour, or does for me!
